RPTM CAPSTONE PROJECT OPTION
The Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management (RPTM) Bachelor of Science degree program offers a capstone project (“The Project Option”) for students who, because of personal or professional considerations, cannot complete either the traditional 12-credit internship or 6/6 credit two-semester internship required to meet the degree requirements for the earned degree in RPTM.
The Project Option is intended to assist students whose personal, professional, or other unique circumstances create a hardship in completing the traditional 12-credit internship or for whom post-graduation plans suggest a project and support course work more appropriately addresses individual career goals. Because there is great value in the traditional 12-credit internship model, students must have a have compelling, documented need and a written proposal outlining those needs as well as a detailed description of the alternative learning opportunity, comprised of a project and supporting coursework, in order for the project option to apply.
Please note that the Capstone Project is separate from the Special Project. Students who enroll in RPTM 495A (internship) and complete either a 12-credit or two six-credit semester on-site internships will complete the Special Project but NOT the Capstone Project.
